Home Buyers in Charleston SC who are looking for new construction close to downtown Charleston and Folly Beach SC will have some new options in the next few years on James Island. Several local, regional and national builders are starting at least 7 new home developments on James Island.
Beazer has begun development of the land in front of Seaside Plantation and will be building 88 new homes in the new section. The homes will be priced from the $200s. Seaside Plantation is conveniently located off Secessionville Rd, about 5 minutes from Folly Beach SC. In addition to the current homesites being developed, another 41 acres in Seaside Plantation is currently under contract.
Harbor Homes has began construction on 19 new homes in Ocean Neighbors on Clearspring Drive. These homes will range from the $300s - $400s with most having a nice view of the Ocean Neighbors Lake. Ocean Neighbors is also located just off Secessionville Rd on James Island.
DR Horton is building 20 homes in the 3,000+ Sqft range in the Island Shores Neighborhood. Island Shores is located off Riverland Drive and Woodland Shores Rd. It is conveniently located near Maybank Highway, Johns Island and close to Downtown Charleston.
New Leaf Builders, which just completed the Eaglewood Retreat Development is now developing Fox Hollow. Fox Hollow will consist of 12 homes and is also located off of Woodland Shores. These homes will range from the $300s to $400s.
Just across from the Charleston Municipal Golf Course on Riverland Drive, Crescent Homes has begun developing a new 25 home community. Crescent Homes recently developed the Terrabrook Neighborhood on James Island.
In the Harbor Woods neighborhood located of Ft. Johnson, DR Horton is building an additional 38 new homes. Harbor Woods is a popular neighborhood on James Island located between Ft. Johnson Rd and Harborview Rd with easy access to the James Island connector and James Island Recreation Center.
At the corner of Folly Rd and Grimball Rd, referred to as the Junkyard Site, Associated Developers is getting ready to start development on a large complex with multi-family units and additional retail and green space.
In addition to these developments, there are a number of other large parcels for sale that will allow for additional new construction on James Island.

"Your most memorable moment:
I have to say that the most memorable moment with Andrew would have been at the closing. After weeks and weeks of texting, emailing, laboring, bemoaning, commiserating, etc., I realized that in a few moments, we had finally completed one of our largest financial investments. And with that thought, it occured to me that the man sitting next to me, who had been a complete stranger 7 weeks earlier, was an integral part of the process. It was at that time when it dawned on me that Andrew had become more than our agent.
The moment you'd rather forget?
There never was a time when we were sorry that Andrew was our agent.
The difference between a successful person and one that continuously experiences failure is the ability to remain humble and realize that no one person can "do it all." Andrew reminded me of that philosphy. If he could not answer one of my questions, he would tell me immediately that he couldn't but that he would find somebody who could. He always, always, always followed up with an answer and in a timely fashion. I very much appreciated that characteristic in Andrew. I never distrusted his judgement or opinion because I knew how honest he was based on the fact that he had no problem telling me that he was going to have to get the opinion of somebody that had more knowledge than he did.
Not at this time but will not hesitate to recommend Andrew when somebody asks.
